Lyrics
To the girl that kept on waitin'
Long before I wore this ring
You deserved a man much sooner
Than the one I chose to be
I was busy chasin' someday
While you built a life with me
You kept lovin' who I wasn't
'Cause you knew who I would be
I always took the long way
The hard way, a little too late
I'm sorry you were right
Believin' in someone worth the wait
You always saw tomorrow
When I only saw today
I'm sorry you were right
For seein' past my mistakes
You seen every side they don't see
Every high and every low
You heard every half-finished dream
Long before the world would know
Every song still finds you first now
'Fore it ever leaves this house
'Cause one little smile from you
Means more than any crowddddd
I always took the long way
The hard way, a little too late
I'm sorry you were right
Believin' in someone worth the wait
You always saw tomorrow
When I only saw today
I'm sorry you were right
For seein' past my mistakes
I spent years tryin' to find me
You were busy buildin' us
Turns out love ain't grand gestures
It's the little things you trust
Every lesson that I'm livin'
Started somewhere in your grace
If I'm finally who you needed
It's only because you stayed
I always took the long way
The hard way, a little too late
I'm sorry you were right
Believin' in someone worth the wait
You always saw tomorrow
When I only saw today
I'm sorry you were right
For seein' past my mistakes
Today I'm lovin' better
Today I'm finally more
Today I see tomorrow
The way you did before
I'm sorry...
You were right
Long before I wore this ring
You deserved a man much sooner
Than the one I chose to be
I was busy chasin' someday
While you built a life with me
You kept lovin' who I wasn't
'Cause you knew who I would be
I always took the long way
The hard way, a little too late
